1 August 2000ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - Donald E. Heath, 67, of Arroyo Grande, Calif., formerly of Anthon, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services were held Monday, July 17, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Arroyo Grande, where the Rev. Joseph Butters officiated.
Mr. Heath was born Aug. 17, 1932, in Anthon, the son of Ralph and Bessie (Ping) Heath. He graduated from Oto (Iowa) High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1950 to 1954, during the Korean War.
He married Charlotte Kueny in September 1953. He was employed in construction in different parts of California, until owning and operating his own insurance business.
He was a member of the city council in Grover City, Calif., in the 1970s. He supported and coached the youth baseball programs in South County, Calif. He also was a member of the American Legion Post in Arroyo Grande.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Vinnie of Atascadero, Calif.; two daughters, Donna Heath of Fullerton, Calif., and Cheryl and her husband, David Doll of Nipomo, Calif.; five brothers, John and his wife, Mona of Phoenix, Richard and his wife, Delores of Anthon, Ronnie and his wife, Karen of Long Beach, Calif., Dennis of Oceano, Calif., and Francis of Lagoona, Calif.; four sisters, Lu Ann Arnold of Sioux City, Norma and her husband, Don Hoffman of Stickney, Calif., Delores and her husband, Bill Collins of Kingsley, Iowa, and Darlene and her husband, Syd Coulas of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; five grandchildren, Jeannie, Craig, Courtney, Rory and Brittany; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
