Wayne Curtis Burt, 77, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Sioux City, died of an aortal aneurysm Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, following a lengthy illness with bone cancer and emphysema.

Services will be Saturday at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Springfield. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden Devotion section, in Sioux City.

Mr. Burt was born May 3, 1923, in Waukon, Iowa, the son of Meritt and Cora Burt. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1943. He later moved to Sioux City, where he was employed with Cudahay's Packing Plant.

In 1947, he returned to Waukon, and in 1949, he married Millie A. Olson from Waukon. The couple moved to Sioux City, where he was employed with Sioux Tools for 41 years, retiring in 1988. They moved to Springfield in 1993.

While living in Sioux City, he was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. In Springfield, he was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and sports.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Bruce Johnson of San Diego, Calif.; a son and his wife, Larry and K. Grace of Springfield; six grandchildren, Shelley Hensley, Holly Schneringer, Dean and Andy Johnson, Brianna and Emily Burt; and four great-grandchildren.
