28 March 2008Judith Toso, 67, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be noon Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Leo Kostizen officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Judith was born Dec. 23, 1940, to Louie and Lois (Jones) Remter, in Burke, S.D. She grew up on a farm hear Dixon, S.D. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dixon. She attended country school in rural Dixon from the first through the eighth grade. She then attended and graduated from Gregory (S.D.) High School. After high school, she attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. She moved to Sioux City in 1962, where she began her teaching career at Cooper Elementary School, teaching first grade.
On April 2, 1966, she married Harvey Richard Toso in Gregory, S.D. The couple made Sioux City their home. She stayed at home while her two boys where young. She began teaching again at St. Paul Lutheran School in 1994 until her health forced her to retire.
The couple were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1971.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Toso of Sioux City; two sons, Jonathan Toso and his wife, Mary of Canton, S.D., and David Toso of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Jacob, Matthew and Elizabeth, all of Canton, S.D.; a sister and her husband, Sally and Benjamin Kolbe of Dixon, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran School or the June E. Nylen Cancer Center, both in Sioux City
