17 March 1999Bernice Kleinheksel, 88, of Sioux City died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Graceland Park Cemetery, with the Rev. William Steward of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Mrs. Kleinheksel was born April 3, 1910, in Vermillion, S.D., the daughter of John Benjamin and Hulda Annette (Pace) Cooper. She graduated from Sioux City East High School and attended National Business School.
She married James Kleinheksel on June 4, 1933, in Sioux City. He died Aug. 1, 1998.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Azure Chapter 540 of Order of the Eastern Star and was active in the Girl Scouts for many years.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Gale and Doyle Vickers of Sioux City; a sister, Gladys Bouma of Pocahontas, Iowa; three grandchildren, Forrest, Jason and Jill; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert; two brothers, Floyd and Laurence Cooper; and a sister, Estella Tilloston.
