11 January 1999Marie S. Petersen, 92, of Sioux City, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday at Nativity Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerry Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel. A parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Petersen was born Feb. 13, 1906, in Sioux City, the daughter of Maurice and Salome (Kaiser) Underscheid. She attended St. Boniface grade school, Cathedral High School and the National Business Training School.
She married Elmer "Butch" Petersen on June 20, 1928, in Sioux City. He died on Feb. 8, 1997.
She had worked for the Sioux City City Attorney's office, the Crary law firm and the Yaneff and Cosgrove law firm.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Robert and JoAnn of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Pam Carlton, Steve and Mike, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice and Joe Underscheid, four step-sisters and two step-brothers.
