Berniece Hansen, 94, of Sioux City died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Graf of Morningside Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hansen was born Oct. 20, 1904, in New Salem Community near Glasgow, Ky., the daughter of James Marion and Lillie Dean (Botts) Pace. She moved with her family to Gilmore City, Iowa, at the age of 12. She graduated from Tobin Business College in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

She married Elwood F. Hansen on June 4, 1924, in Gilmore City. The couple lived in Des Moines until 1926, when they moved to Fort Dodge. She was employed with Gates Department Store. In 1968, they moved to St. Petersburg, Fla. They moved to Sioux City in 1986. He died April 27, 1989, in Sioux City.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Farrell and his wife, Lyall of Sioux City and Richard of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Clifton M. Pace; three sisters, Hazel Pace, Goldie Hargis and Haidee Lou Beckner; a half brother and two half sisters.

Pallbearers will be Alan, Paul, Brian and Keith Hansen, Greg Puttmann and Richard Stoulil.

Memorials in her name may be directed to American Heart Association or Morningside Presbyterian Church
