10 April 1999Marjorie Carol De Jong, 61, of Sioux City died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at her daughter's home in Omaha, Neb.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Private burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under direction of Larkin Northside Funeral Home.
Mrs. De Jong was born Aug. 14, 1937, in Battle Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Harvey and Viola Steir. She was raised in the Schleswig, Ia. area. She graduated from Schleswig High in 1954, and moved to Sioux City.
She married Orville R. De Jong on May 5, 1957, and lived in Sioux City.
She attended classes at Morningside and Briar Cliff College, and Iowa State University. She worked at several Sioux City businesses, including Holtze Construction Company from 1985 to 1998.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Debbie and her husband, Larry Leigh of Sioux City and Stacey De Jong of Omaha; two sons, Doug of Hazelwood, Mo., and Steve and his wife, Fran of Sioux City; a sister, Delores Ellsworth of Sioux City; and two grandchildren, Abbie Leigh and Jacob De Jong
