SIOUX CITY | Frank V. Clay, 88, formerly of Sioux City passed away Sept. 24, 2014, in Bullhead City, Ariz.

Frank was born on Sept. 19, 1926, in Sioux City, the first of six sons and a daughter born to Frank and Effie (Halverson) Clay. He attended Sioux City Public Schools. Frank entered the military service with the U.S. Army in 1944, serving in the Pacific Campaign. He was among the first U.S. troops occupying the Japan mainland. He again proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1954 to Oct. 19, 1958.

Frank was united in marriage to Dorothy Fickbohm on May 14, 1955, in Greeley, Colo.

Frank is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Richard (Jeannie) Clay of Omaha, George Clay of Sioux City, and Roland Clay of Golden Valley, Ariz.; four daughters, Linda Conner of Sioux City, Cathie Shafer of San Antonio, Texas, Janice Clay of Sioux City, and Vickie (Kip) Clay Maroste of Prescott, Ariz.; two brothers, Vernon F. Clay of Kingman, Ariz., and Norman L. Clay of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Clay was preceded in death by his son, Steve Clay; his parents, Frank and Effie; a sister, Betty Jean Clay; brothers, Richard, Donald, and William Clay; a grandson; and a great-great-granddaughter.
