SIOUX CITY | Delores E. Hobbs, 83, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014.

Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place. Private graveside inurnment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Delores was born on July 19, 1931, in Bladen, Neb., to Melvin M. and Grace (Schaa) Peterson. At age 8, her family moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she finished her education.

Delores married William H. Hobbs on Nov. 10, 1951, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She moved her family to Sioux City in 1953. In the mid 1950s, the couple bought their home on Myrtle Street, where family still enjoys the neighborhood. Delores was proud to be a homemaker and found her greatest joy in her children and grandchildren.

She was the chairperson for the brain injury support group in Woodbury County for several years.

Delores is survived by her daughter, Robyn L. Steinhoff; son, Gary Hobbs; son, Terry Hobbs and his wife, Teresa, all of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Matt Steinhoff, Jason, Steven, Trevor and Logan Hobbs; and one great-granddaughter, Brilee Hobbs.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William in 1989; son, Daniel; and two sisters.
