Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Eugene Lloyd

Funeral services for Eugene "Shine" Lloyd, 62, of rural Oto, were held Tuesday December 12, 1989 at 10:00 a.m. in the Smithland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe-D DowlingSoka officiating.

Interment was in the Smithland Little Sioux Township Cemetery under the direction of the Willman Funeral Home of Rodney.

Ellen Harbeck was organist. Jack Steinhoff was soloist with Katherine Cox accompanist.

Honorary casketbearers were Messrs. Chet Claus, Dean Kelsey, Miller Nickolisen, Douglas Shupe, Scott Blakely and Gene Kelsey.

Casketbearers were Messrs. Ronnie and Terry Uhl, Jim, Rick and Mike Lloyd, Byron and Donnie Dawdy, Lewis and James Mead.

Mr. Lloyd was born July 23, 1927 at Smithland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Lloyd. He attended school at Smithland and Hornick, where he graduated in 1945. He married Sharon Sherman March 18, 1948, at Everly, Iowa. They lived near Oto in their present home for 31 years. He was a farmer and road maintainer operator for Woodbury County before his recent retirement.

He was a member of the Oto United Church of Christ.

Mr. Lloyd died unexpectedly Saturday December 9, 1989 in a Sioux City hospital.

Survivors include his wife; four sons and daughters-in-law, Neal and Susan of Hornick, Roger and Micky of Sioux City, Kevin and Karen of Climbing Hill, and Mark and Cyndi of LeMars; a daughter and companion, Bernie Lloyd and Gary Sulsberger, and a daughter and son-in-law, Faith and Brett Lambert, all of Hornick: a sister Genevieve Dawdy of Sioux City and17 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
