ANTHON, Iowa — Clara M. Petersen, 87, of Anthon died Sunday, Aug. 7, 1988, in a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Midway, rural Battle Creek. The Rev. Stanley Rosenau will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Funeral Home in Anthon.
Mrs. Petersen, the former Clara Jansen, was born April 19, 1901, in Woodbury County, Morgan Township, daughter of Johannes and Katherine(Wigand) Jansen. She married Thomas A. Petersen Jan. 7, 1920, at her parents home near Correctionville. The couple farmed near Danbury and moved to Sioux City in 1956. He died Jan. 6, 1972,. She moved to Anthon in April 1985 and had lived in a nursing home the last eight months.
Mrs. Petersen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a 68-year member of the Ladies Aid of the church. She was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City.
Survivors include four sons, Harold of Correctionville, and Orville, Merlin and Earl, all of Danbury; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Garnet Petersen of Anthon; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Elmer; three brothers and five sisters.
