SLOAN, Iowa — Ray Craig Sr., 70, of Sloan died Sunday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., after a long illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City. The Rev. Paul Sieveking will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in Wood Funeral Home in Sloan.
Mr. Craig was born Feb. 17, 1917, in rural Salix and graduated from Sloan High School in 1936. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Frieda Schwarz Dec. 25, 1941, in South Sioux City.
He worked for Raybells Dehydrating Plant until 1962. He then was a tank truck driver for the Cereal Co-op at Sloan from 1962 until retiring in 1979.Mr. Craig was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; four son, Ray Jr. of Sioux Falls, S.D., Fred of Madison, Wis., Thomas of San Diego, Calif., and James of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brothers, Robert and Thomas, both of Sioux City and Arza of Phoenix; five sisters, Myrtle Boston of Elk Point, S.D., Cora Carnes and Opal Stanley, both of Sioux City, and Dorothy Stanley and Margaret Paul, both of Sloan, and 10 grandchildren.
