Funeral Services Held For Blendina Hubert

Blendina Hubert, 94, Countryside Retirement Home, Sioux City, died Monday, August 21, 1989, in the nursing home after a long illness.

Services were at 10:00 a.m. Friday August 25, 1989 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix with the Rev. R.P. Wieling officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Church Cemetery, under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home in Sloan.

The organist was Mrs. Greg Heisteikamp and the soloist, Rene Goodwin, sang, "Hear, Oh Lord" and "Only This I Want." Rene Goodwin and Wendell Hubert sang, "On Eagles Wings." Margret Smith sang, "The Lord's Prayer," and the congregation sang, "How Great Thou Art."

Casketbearers were Richard Watson, Stanley Smith, Harry Goodwin, Roger Hubert, Jr., Michael Smith, and Nicky Hubert.

Mrs. Hubert, the former Blendina Johnson, was born January 2, 1895, in Sloan and was a longtime Sloan and Salix resident. She married Albert "Cass" Hubert January 23, 1918, in Salix. He died February 1956. She had been a resident of Countryside Retirement Home since October 1976.

Mrs. Hubert was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 50-year member of the Altar Society of the church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Art (Rosanna) Schellinger of Sioux City, Mrs. Corinne Goodwin, Mrs. Louis (Lorraine) Watson and Mrs. Kermit (Lucille) Lee, all of Sloan; three sons, Albert N. and Richard P., both of Salix, and Roger F. of Phoenix, Arizona; 30 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Jennie (Hammer) Johnson, two brothers, two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.
