19 June 1986Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Freda Sulsberger
Mrs. Freda J. Sulsberger, 96, of Climbing Hill, died Saturday, June 7, 1986 in an Onawa hospital.
Services were at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 1986 at Climbing Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial was in Westfork Township Cemetery at Climbing Hill under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.
Casket-bearers were Messrs. Julie Pekar, David, Todd, Mike and Rex Sulsberger Jr. and Tom Heirigs.
Mrs. Sulsberger, the former Freda Julia Egger, was born March 26, 1890, the daughter of Jake and Agusta Steinhoff Egger, in Holly Springs. She married Clarence Sulsberger on April 7, 1915, in Holly Springs. They lived in the Holly Springs-Hornick community until moving to Climbing Hill in 1948. Mr. Sulsburger died May 26, 1971.
She was a member of Climbing Hill Baptist Church and its Friendly Circle Club.
Survivors include three sons, Marvin of Hornick, Rex of Denver, Colorado, and Darrel "Whitey" of Climbing Hill; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Vera) Halverson of South Chicago Heights, Illinois, Mrs. Robert (Edith) Hanley of Denver, Colorado; and Mrs. Mark (Nina) Heirigs of West Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Mary Egger and Lyda Egger, both of Holly Springs; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
