Arthur B. Brown 1913 - 1985

BRONSON, Iowa — Arthur B. Brown, 72, former Bronson mayor, died Tuesday at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Christy Morningside Funeral Home in Sioux City with the Rev. Ross Lokken of Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Sloan. He moved to Bronson at age 2, and graduated from Bronson High School in 1931. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific on the U.S.S. Young America. He married Dorothy Jean Griffin on May 30, 1940, in Sioux City. Mrs. Brown died May 23, 1970.

He was a self-employed carpenter, mayor of Bronson for 12 years, a member of the Woodbury County Fair Board and member of the Wink-Sparks American Legion Post No. 303 of Moville.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Anne Boston of Bronson; two sons, Jim Brown of Norfolk, Neb., and Master Sgt. George E. Brown of San Antonio Texas; four grand children and one great-grandchild.
