ANTHON, Iowa — Florence M. Sawin, 78, of Anthon, died Monday at her home in Anthon.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Walter Funeral Home in Anthon with the Rev. Walter Enstrom officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Mrs. Sawin, the former Florence Willmott, was born April 2, 1909, near Wolsey, S.D. She moved with her parents to the Correctionville community in 1913 and to Oto in 1914. She graduated from Oto High School and Cedar Falls Teachers College and taught in a rural school east of Oto. On June 12, 1929, she married Lloyd Sawin in Vermillion, S.D. The couple moved to Anthon in 1947.
Mrs. Sawin was a member of the former Bethel Piero Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, having held many offices. She also was a member of the Band Parents Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Duane (Lucy Mae) Lorenzen or Garden City, Kan.; two sons, Carro, of Lincoln, Neb., and Keith of Sioux City; a brother, Charles of Akron, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Maxine King of Kansas City, Kan., and Fern Eberly of Allison; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
