Funeral Services Held Thursday for Donnabelle Oliver
Funeral services for Mrs. Kermit (Donnabelle M.) Oliver, 73, retired Lawton school teacher, were held Thursday September 1, 1988 at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton. Dr. Robert E. Peters officiated. Interment was in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, under the direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville.
Annette Eberly, soloist, sang "The Twenty-Third Psalm." Ruby Wilson was organist.
Casketbearers were Messrs. Lloyd Lighthall, James Henningsen, Harold Howard, Wayne Eberly, George Coker and Tom Lang.
Mrs. Oliver, the former Donnabelle Stuart, was born May 21, 1915, the daughter of Ebenezer and Esma M. Brown Stuart, in Whiting. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City and Wayne State Teachers College. She married Kermit L. Oliver May 30, 1937, in Sioux City. A longtime Lawton resident, she taught high school math for many years, retiring at age 65.
She was a member of the Iowa Retired Teachers Association, Woodbury County Chapter and the Iowa State Education Association. She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church and UPW; UTD Club of Lawton; Order of Eastern Star, Moville Chapter; and the Lawton Garden Club.
Mrs. Oliver died Monday August 29, 1988 in a Sioux City hospital of short illness.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Stuart of Sioux City; a daughter, Sharleen Sorum of Belmond, Iowa; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial has been established in her name for an educational fund.
