SALIX, Iowa — William Dean Lau, 40, of Salix died Saturday in his car west of Anthon.
Services will be at 1 p. m. Wednesday in Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. The Rev. Gary Marzolf, pastor of Sergeant Bluff United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Mr. Lau was born Feb. 16, 1946, in Sioux City and attended school in Sergeant Bluff, where he graduated from high school. He married Sandy K. Cooper Feb. 28, 1979, in Sloan.
He had worked for Woodbury County surveyors after his return from four years in the U.S. Navy and for the last 15 years had worked for the O'Keefe Elevator Company of Omaha.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Laury, at home; his parents, Harry and Florence Lau of Salix; a brother, Robert of Salix, and three sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Bobbette) Moreland of Sioux City, Mrs. Robert (Judy) Erickson of Perry, Kan., and Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Mercer of Salix.
Dr. Thomas L. Coriden, Woodbury County medical examiner, ruled the death a suicide by a gunshot wound.
