Dennis Michael Lafferty, 59, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel.

Mr. Lafferty was born April 10, 1944, in Sioux City, the son of Francis Henry and Katherine Ina (Grasma) Lafferty. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1964.

He married Veeda Johnson on April 10, 1976, in Sioux City. He was employed as a laborer with the Local 427.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Veeda "Tootie" Lafferty of Sioux City; four daughters, Stacia and her husband, Jeff Pelzer of Spencer, Iowa, Denyse Lafferty of Omaha, Katie and her husband, Ryan Johns of Sioux City and Jennifer Lafferty of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Dereck, Laeni, Blake, Corri, Ali and Kelten; and a niece, Schelly Wallace.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brandon James Lafferty; and a sister, Ina.

Pallbearers will be his friends, James Johnson, Terry Clarey, Jeff Pelzer, Victor Casey, Rod Unruh and Darold Plueger
