26 December 2003Marie A. Meyers, 87, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Siouxland Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. Meyers was born Aug. 28, 1916, in Alvord, Iowa, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Schultz) Bahrenfuss. She grew up in Alvord and graduated from high school before coming to Sioux City in 1936. She attended the National Business Training School in Sioux City, then worked in the office at Wincharger from 1938 to 1948.
She married Charles J. Meyers on March 13, 1948, in Sioux City. He died Sept. 25, 1980, in Sioux City.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees through her husband's employment. She was very active in school activities at Crescent Park School and was in the P.T.A. She was a Room Mother and helped in the library.
She is survived by two sons, Charles "Chuck" Meyers of Sioux City and Jim Meyers and his wife, Michelle of Sioux City; three daughters, Cathy Meyers of Sioux City, Mary and her husband, Jeff Krejci of Sioux City and Patty and her husband, Pat Perry of Lincoln, Neb.; 10 grandchildren, Amy, Chris and Adam Chan, Curtis, Mariah and Ryan Meyers and Erin, Brion, Shannon and P.J. Perry; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Cecelia Kroger; and three brothers, Richard, Paul and Henry Bahrenfuss.
