26 December 2003SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Clara A. Miller, 89, of South Sioux City died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Stephen Niles officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.
Clara was born Oct. 23, 1914, in Hoskins, Neb., the daughter of Carl and Louisa (Puls) Strate. She married Reuben G. Miller on June 26, 1938, in Hoskins. The couple lived in Ericson, Neb. and near Danbury, Iowa, before moving to South Sioux City on Oct. 23, 1945. She was a teacher in South Sioux City for several years and retired from teaching in Sioux City.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Retired Teacher Association in South Sioux City and Sioux City. She loved traveling, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Laraine and Jerry Kingston of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; two sons, Larry Miller of South Sioux City and LeRoy Miller and his wife, Mary Lou of Dunning, Neb.; six grandchildren, Vickie, Lonnie, Suzette and Mary Miller, Jolynn Meier and Mary Leigh Jensen; and five great-grandchildren, Shane, Nathan and Shelby Miller and Riley and Kylee Meier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben on Jan. 4, 1998, in Sioux City; her parents; two brothers, Ernest and Walter Strate; and three sisters, Lydia Strate, Emma Bryant and Hilda Petersen.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie D. Miller, Rory Meier, Ross Jensen, Joey Cale, Eugene Ulrich, Dennis Puls, Merwyn Strate and Martin Castor.
