Norman H. Gustad, 82, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Krishen A. Persaud officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Mr. Gustad was born March 17, 1921, in Inwood, Iowa, the son of Henry H. and Aagot M.L. (Johannesen) Gustad. He graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, S.D. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Dorothy E. Richards on Nov. 9, 1946, in Sioux Falls. The couple resided in both Hawarden, Iowa, and Sioux City. He was a postal employee for 20 years, retiring in 1979, as Postmaster in Hawarden. Dorothy passed away on April 1, 2003, in Sioux City.

He was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the American Association of Retired Persons. He enjoyed woodcarving.

He is survived by four children and their spouses, Wally and Judy Gustad of Tucson, Ariz., Susan and Tim Parks of Westfield, Iowa, Rick and Tammy Gustad of St. Cloud, Minn., and Pam and Chad Hartman of Hawarden, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
