24 December 2003Evelyn V. Juzek, 86, of Hinton, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
There are no services scheduled. Her body was donated to the University of South Dakota Medical School. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. Juzek was born Aug. 31, 1917, in Sioux City, the daughter of Charles and Lennie (McCullough) Hay. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Grenwich High School in New York. After high school, she came back to Sioux City and began working at Wincharger in 1935.
She married Stan Juzek in April 1941. She worked at Wincharger for 30 years, retiring in 1965. Stan died Jan. 10, 1980, in Sioux City. She had lived most of her life in Sioux City and had lived with her daughter in Hinton for the last five years.
She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching tennis and traveling. The couple were avid dog racing fans and spent many happy summers at Sodrac Park until his death in 1980.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Barbara and Lloyd Diede of Hinton; two grandchildren, Valerie Eyer and her husband, Rob, and Martin Diede; and six great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold Hay.
