19 December 2003Mary Ann Emerick, 69, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the Hinsdale Hospital in Hinsdale, Ill., following a brief illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Nicholas Becker officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.
Mary Ann was born May 7, 1934, in Sioux City, the daughter of William and Anna (Hardy) Jordan. She was a life long resident of Sioux City. She attended Cathedral Grade School and graduated from Heelan High School in 1952. She attended St. Joseph School of Nursing.
On Oct. 5, 1952, she married Jack Emerick in Sioux City. He died July 31, 1976, in Sioux City. She worked at St. Vincent's Hospital and at Mercy Medical Center for more than 37 years. She retired in 2002.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. The thing that she loved most was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Patti and Dan Keefe of Willow Springs, Ill., and Laurie and Darious Crippen of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; two sons and their wives, Robert and Diane of Ventura, Calif., and Scott and Darcie of Port Hueneme, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Sean, Ryan and Anna Keefe, Candace, Christopher and Catherine Crippen, Jack and Matt Emerick and Scott, Shannon and Sean Emerick; and two sisters, Margaret Emerick and Patricia Hanson, both of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Joyce Leming and Janice Jordan; a brother, Robert Jordan; and a grandson, Timmy Keefe.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Sean and Ryan Keefe, Christopher Crippen, Jack and Matt Emerick and Scott and Sean Emerick.
A memorial has been established in her name for Heelan High School and Trinity Heights/Queen of Peace.
