BATTLE CREEK, Iowa -- Agnes Treiber, 80, of Battle Creek died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury, Iowa, with the Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m., at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

Born July 31, 1923, in rural Danbury, Agnes Matilda Treiber was the daughter of Otto and Emma (Wunsche) Thul. She grew up and received her education in rural Danbury.

On Jan. 25, 1950, she married Leo Treiber at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. The couple farmed for many years near Danbury. Leo passed away July 7, 1991.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a retired member of the Rosary Society. She enjoyed baking, crocheting and bird watching. She will be remembered as a devoted farm wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially appreciated visits from her family.

She is survived by six children, Katie and her husband, Art Weston, and Doris and her husband, Darrell Shoultz, all of Sioux City, Anne and her husband, Bruce Beery, and Betty Treiber, all of Battle Creek, Linda Allaman of Keota, Iowa, and John Treiber of Danbury; 17 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie Dose of Anthon, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Mary Dirksen of Danbury; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers, Helmut, Emil, Henry, Harry, Otto Jr. and George Thul.
