Viola A. (Hilbert) Strampe, 91, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Sunrise Retirement Home in Sioux City.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Waterman Township Cemetery at Sutherland, Iowa, with the Rev. Dennis Hopes of Sutherland United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Roger C. Madden of First United Methodist Church of Sioux City officiating.

Mrs. Strampe was born June 3, 1912 at Sutherland, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Matie (Ahrens) Hilbert. She graduated from Sutherland High School.

She married Delbert W. Strampe in 1932. The couple moved to Sioux City in the early 1940s. Mr. Strampe preceded Viola in death in 1980 in Sioux City.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include a son, Rodney Strampe and his wife, Nancy Cogan, of Iowa City, Iowa; and four grandsons, Russell of Fort Wayne, Ind., David of Montrose, Colo., Kenneth of Iowa City, Iowa and Stephen of Billings, Mont.
