Sandee Griffith Peterson, 56, of Estherville, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at her residence.

There will be a remembrance service from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olsen-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Sandra Kay Peterson, the daughter of Darold and Phyllis (Martin) Griffith, was born Sept. 13, 1947, in Estherville. She received her education in Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1965. She also attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville and Morningside College in Sioux City. She was an entertainer for 22 years. She finished her singing career in Sioux City before moving back to Estherville.

On Oct. 6, 1995, she was united in marriage to Jerry Peterson in Luverne, Minn. She most recently was the manager of Super 8 Motel in Estherville for four years.

She was a member of First Christian Church, where she was a former choir director. She also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. For hobbies, she loved music, reading, computers, crafts and spending time with her granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry "Pete" of Estherville; two sons, Todd Gunderson and his wife, Melissa, and Kenneth Gunderson, all of Sioux City; a granddaughter, Bailey; three stepdaughters, Sharon, Donna and Lisa; seven step-grandchildren; a great-step-grandchild; a sister and her husband, Linda and Herb Ruden of Estherville; a brother, Bob Griffith of Estherville; and a niece and nephew, Robyn Hansen and Ryan Ruden and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister and grandparents.
