Jerry A. Nichols, 68, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Jerry was born March 10, 1935, in Sioux City, the son of Roy A. and Marie A. (McMahan) Nichols. He attended Sioux City schools.

He married Shirley A. Brooks on Nov. 19, 1955, in Sioux City. He was employed by Kent Feeds for 33 years.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Sioux City; seven children, Kathy Dailey of Mollala, Ore., Brenda Dailey and her husband, Jack ,of Sioux Falls, S.D., Roy Nichols and his wife, Tracy, of Sioux City, Randy Nichols and his wife, Karen, of Sioux City, Kim Hogancamp of Sioux City, Jon Nichols of Sioux City and Melissa Zeman and her husband, Tom, of Sioux City; a brother, Danny Robinson of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, which would be greatly appreciated.
