Richard S. Coover, 57, of Sioux City died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Coover was born June 5, 1946, in Sioux City, the son of True and Virginia (Chilton) Coover. He grew up in the James, Iowa, area and attended school there from 1950 to 1953. He then attended Hinton, Iowa, schools from 1953 to 1960. He attended Sioux City schools after 1960.

He married Carol Ritz on Aug. 30, 1968, in Sioux City. He enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Michelle and David Monroe of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Thomas and Jennifer Coover of Sioux City; his twin brother, Raymond W. Coover of Sioux City; a sister, Ruth Ann Ryan of Sioux City; and four grandchildren, Brianna and Brodie Monroe and Cole and Chloe Coover.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
