James (Jim) D. Rourke died Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Faith Regional Health Services.

Funeral services for James (Jim) D. Rourke, 80, of Norfolk were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Norfolk, with Reverend Dan Andrews, Celebrant. Mary Bruckner served as organist.

Honorary bearers were Marietta Arens, Bonnie Flynn, Cliff Flynn, De Kurtenbach, Lelice Newcomb and Dick Theobald.

Active Bearers were Jim Arens, Matt Carr, C.R. Kurtenbach, Ed Leahy, John May and Wendell Newcomb. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 16, VFW Post 1644, and U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Arrangements by Home For Funerals of Norfolk, Nebraska

James Donald Rourke was born March 3, 1931 on a farm near Anthon, Iowa the son of Ivan and Rose(Morgan) Rourke. He was raised on a farm helping his father and then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1959 and moved to Omaha where he was employed by Consolidated Flour Mill and Swift & Co. He was with Internal Revenue Service from 1962 through 1968 and then worked for Merle Schoening.

January 1, 1970, he started his own business, James Rourke Tax & Bookkeeping Service until being semi-retired in 2005 and then fully retired in 2009.

On March 3, 1962, Jim was united in marriage to Concetta (Connie) Bosco in St. Frances Cabrini Church, Omaha. They moved to Norfolk on October 1, 1965, where they were blessed with two wonderful children.

Jim loved his family and spending time together. He was a 4th Degree Knight and member of the Knights of Columbus, was a member of the 49ers Square Dance Club and was a volunteer at the Faith Regional Health Services.

Jim is survived by his wife Connie of Norfolk, daughter Kathleen (Troy) Drahota of Lincoln, son Tom (Jennifer) Rourke of Omaha, grandson Taylor Drahota, and granddaughters Baylee Drahota, Lauren Rourke, Jordon Rourke, and Olivia Rourke.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jerry.
