Gertrude Helen "Gert" Camarigg, age 81, passed away at Medicana Nursing Home in Lake Worth, Florida on November 23, 2001 after a courageous fight against lung cancer.

Gertrude was born on November 24,1919 on a farm between Lawton and Moville, Iowa, to Helen (Wright) and William Byers.

On January 10, 1942 Gertrude married Donald Gieger "Jack" Camarigg of Correctionville, Iowa. Together, they farmed the Camarigg family home farm and owned and operated the IGA grocery store in Correctionville until Donald's death on June 19, 1969.

At age 50, Gertrude returned to school where she earned her Cosmetology license and opened the Cameo Beauty Salon in Correctionville, Iowa, where she worked until she retired in 1979. At retirement, she moved to California to be close to her son, Jacky, his wife Barbara and granddaughters Donelle and Candance and later moved with her family to Florida.

Gertrude will always be remembered for her ever-lasting love and support of her family and wonderful Thanksgiving dinners.

At the time of her death, Gertrude was survived by her son, Jacky; daughter-in-law Barbara; granddaughters, Donelle Waltz of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Candance Camarigg of Jacksonville, Florida; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Adam Waltz of Fort Wayne, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband Donald "Jack" Camarigg; her parents, brother and three sisters.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Correctionville Cemetery in Correctionville, Iowa with Pastor Sheryl K. Ashley officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Correctionville.
