SIOUX CITY | Judith K. Williams, 63, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 7, 2014.

Private family services will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.

Judy was born April 23, 1950, in Denver, to Eldon and Elisabeth Schroder. The family moved to Sioux City in 1956. She graduated from East High School in 1968. In 1971, she graduated from UNI with degrees in elementary education and art.

She married Timothy V. Williams in November 1971. They moved to the Southeast, where she spent the next 40 years. They had two children, Dean and Anne. She and Tim divorced in 1996.

During the years, Judy took post-graduate courses in art. She was an accomplished artist and shared beautiful pieces with her family. Later, she enjoyed working for Talbot's in Columbia, S.C., for 10 years, where her artist's eye and her personality made her much loved by her co-workers and customers.

After her diagnosis of corticobasal degeneration in 2010, she moved to Dakota Dunes to live with her sister, Jan, and Jan's husband, Bill. While this rare progressive disease took many things from Judy, her intelligence and beautiful smile remained.

She received wonderful care from the staff at Sunrise Retirement and Hospice of Siouxland in the last few months.

Survivors include her son, Dean (Shannon) Williams of Columbia; her daughter, Anne (Gary) Roley and their daughter, Balayna, of Covington, Ga.; her father, Eldon Schroder of Sioux City; her sisters, Jan (Bill) Burke of Dakota Dunes, and Dottie (Michael) Guilbert of Reno, Nev.; her brothers, Ron (Sherrie) Schroder of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Rex (Marcia) Schroder of Sioux City; nieces and nephews whom she loved, Kelly, Luke, Betsy, Cutter and Loren; grandnieces, Julianne, Bailey and Harper; and grand-nephews, David and Michael.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elisabeth Schroder.
