SIOUX CITY | Alice R. Rahn, 83, of Sioux City died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Sunrise Retirement Community.

Graveside services will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Alice was born Feb. 10, 1930 in Sioux City, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Thrush) Hostad. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Central High.

Alice married Timothy J. Rahn on Nov. 25, 1950, in Sioux City. He died June 20, 2009. Alice was employed by St. Vincent Hospital and by Marian Health Center for many years.

Alice will be missed by her family and remembered for the love she had for her dogs. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a sister and her husband, Nancy and Dean Haack; a brother and his wife, Robert and Joan Hostad, all of Sioux City; a niece, Lesley Bartholomew of Sioux City; two nephews, Calvin Haack of Johnston, Iowa, and Shawn Hostad of Ramsey, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tim; and a sister, Patricia Hostad.

The family would like to thank the staff in the Sunlight unit at Sunrise for their wonderful care.
