Frank H. Day Jr., 79, of Sioux City died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
The body was cremated. There will be no services or visitation. Burial will be at a later date. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Day was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Carroll, Iowa, the son of Frank and Elsie (Losh) Day. He moved to Sioux City in 1927. He graduated from Central High School in 1939. He served ih the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1947 in Panama.
He marrie Ruby Kubal on July 19, 1947 in Onawa, Iowa. She died on Aug. 14, 1999. He was employed with P.I.E. and Yellow Freight Systems for 29 years. He was a member of the local Teamsters 554.
Survivors include a son, Frank Dennis Day and his wife, Jackie, of Sioux City; two daughters, Cheryl and her husband, Paul Prather of Sioux City, and Judy Day of Denver; two sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Day of Portland, Ore., and Grace Day of Florida; a brother, Richard and his wife, Sally of Sioux Falls; three sisters, Frances and her husband Frank Norris of Nashville, Tenn., Betty and her husband, Doc Eldridge of Oregon, and Eleanor and her husband, Bob Steinstra of Palo Alto, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jim, Todd and Bradley Brinkerhoff, Shane "Oz" and Ryan Prather; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Gurney and Vernon.
