SERGEANT BLUFF — Laddie Edward Kuzela, 69, of Sergeant Bluff died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Nativity Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald F. Feierfeil officiating. The body will be cremated following the services. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with family present 4 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 4 p.m. said by Catholic Daughters of America and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and a parish vigil service at 6:45 p.m., all at Larkin Northside Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. Monday at the church.

Laddie was born April 6, 1932, in Tabor, S.D., the son of Frank and Stephanie (Mach) Kuzela. He was raised in Tabor. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Eleanor Lange on May 7, 1955. in Elkhorn, Wis. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller for 32 years. He served in control centers in Chicago, Sioux City, Omaha and Flagstaff, Ariz., and then returned to Sioux City where he retired in 1989.

He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and the men's club at the church. He was a devoted volunteer at the Queen of Peace -- Trinity Heights. He enjoyed garage sales, auctions, boating, fishing and working on cars. He loved Spending time with his grandson, Corey, and his granddaughter, Megan. He greatly enjoyed having long distance phone conversations with his son, Jim.

Survivors include his wife: a son and his wife, James and Carol of Dallas, Texas; two daughters and their husbands, Margie and Dennis Terfone of Sioux City, and Janice and john Maple of Manassas, Va.; a sister, Marilyn Hunter of Sioux City; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cherie Renee; and a brother, Frank Kuzela.

A memorial has been established in his name for Trinity Heights Queen of Peace and Hospice of Siouxland.
