29 March 2002SERGEANT BLUFF -- Marvin Williams, 62, of Sergeant Bluff died Monday, March 25, 2002, on the Port Neal road near Salix, Iowa.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with Dr. Paul Samuelson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Williams was born May 6, 1939, in Bonesteel, S.D., the son of Robert Raymond and Sophia Anna (Wuest) Williams. He moved with his family to Siouxland. He graduated from Sergeant Bluff High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He served during the Cuban Missile crisis.
Following his discharge, he farmed in the Sergeant Bluff area until retiring in 1995. Following his retirement, he went to work for C.W. Suter and then for F.M.C. for seven years.
He was a member of the National Farmers Organization.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Randy and Vicky Williams of Sloan, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Brenda and Tod Baker of Acworth, Ga.; four sisters, Doris and her husband, Hank Grillett, of Fresno, Calif., Betty Hubler and Velma Hubler, both of Tipton, Iowa, and Barbara Slocum of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers and their wives, Bob and Lela Williams of Sergeant Bluff, Donald and Annette Williams of Lisle, Ill., and Ronald and Debra Williams of Santa Ynez, Calif.; five grandchildren, Wendy LaCroix, Lacey and Jesse Williams and Ashley and Amanda Baker; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna Lamoureux; and two brothers, Clarence and Kenneth Williams.
Pallbearers will be Tom and Jon Oehlerking, Dale Patton, Dave Christensen, John Deirup and John Hollenbeck.
