Donald L. Sieger, a resident of Hornick for the past 21 years, passed away unexpectedly at his home October 30, 1971 from an apparent heart attack. Death came at the age of 47 years, 2 months and 5 days.

He was born at Lawton, Iowa on August 25, 1924, the son of George and Hattie Sieger. On June 25, 1948, he was united in marriage to Lucille Lighthall at Lawton. He was a heavy equipment operator in construction work.

He served in the U. S. Army Postal Unit and was a member of Hindman-Steele Post No, 492, American Legion of Hornick.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille of Hornick; one son, Andrew with the U. S. Army in Germany; three daughters, Judy, Kathleen and Ellen at home; 2 sisters, Mrs. Clarence Smith of Marcus and Mrs. Ted Metcalf of LaPorte, Colo.; three brothers, Walt Sieger of Lawton, Jerry Seiger of Hornick and Marvin Sieger also of Hornick; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Sieger of Hornick and a number of other relatives.

Services were held at 2 p,m, at the United Methodist Church in Hornick, Iowa on Tuesday, November 2, 1971 with Rev. Paul Texton and the Rev. E. E. Epperson officiating. The Hornick Methodist Men's quartet gave comfort in song, accompanied by Mrs. Orval Cox.

Casket bearers were Charles Myers, William Harris, Herald Weber, Paul Pohnson, Ray
Shupe and Wesley Miller. The flag was presented by the Hindman-Steele American Legion Post No, 492, Leonard Muller, Commander. Interment was in Banner Cemetery at Lawton with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home of Whiting.
