Garth A. Boyer, Elk Grove Village, Ill., passed away at his home on January 19, 1972 at the age of
47.

He was born at Sloan; Iowa on Nov. 27, 1923, the son of Garland and Earlie Murphy Boyer, and received his elementarY education in the Sloan schools. He served in the armed forces during World War II and graduated from Indiana College at Terre Haute, Ind. He taught school at East High in Sioux City from 1951 to 1961 and then moved to Elk Grove Village where he was an instructor in the high school there.

He was united in marriage to Edna M. Hicks in 1944 at Clemson, South Carolina.

Survivors are his wife, Edna of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; children Garth Jr. of Peoria, Ill; Jeff, Charmaine, Michelle, Gordon, Tawnya, Amy, Ronald, Barbara and Jennifer, all at home; 2 brothers, Vern H. Boyer, South Sioux City. Nebr; and Harold E. Boyer, South Brattleboro, Mass.; 2 sisters June Stanley, Terre Haute and Celo Solit, West Redding, Conn. and a number of other relatives.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 1972 at the United Congregational Church, Sloan, Iowa, with the Rev. Henry Held officiating. Mrs. Glenn Miltenberger was the organist.

Casket hearers were Ronald Teller, Earle Martin, Harold McCord, Paul Lindberg, Lloyd Lindberg and Adam Pratt. Jr. Interment was in the Sloan Cemetery with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home of Whiting and Sloan.
