Paul A. Hass, 62, of Sioux City died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at his residence after a several-month illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Larkin Morningside Chapel, with Marie Lykken, Hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Paul was born on Sept. 20, 1941, in Sioux City, the son of Marvin and Yvonne (Andersen) Hass. He was raised in Sioux City and attended East High School. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Vietnam War.

On May 4, 1963, he married Phyllis A. Holmes in Sioux City. He was employed as a pressman for the Sioux City Journal for 46 years. He retired in July 2003 due to ill health.

Paul was an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman. He was a great sports fan. His favorite teams were the Vikings, Broncos and Chicago Cubs.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Steven and Jaime of Laurens, S.C.; a daughter and her husband, Maggy and Pat Dirks of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Rynelee Dirks, Kelsie, Henry, J.C. and Robbie Hass; and two brothers and their wives, Tom and June Hass of Yucca Valley, Calif., and Jim and Dee Hass of Denver, Colo.

Pallbearers will be Butch James, Richard Fortune, John Harvey, Steve Hass, Pat Dirks and Lynn Dirks. Honorary pallbearers will be James Hass, Tom Hass, Rynelee Dirks and Corwin Bauerly
