Frances Kirby, 89, of Sioux City died Thursday, March 7, 2002 at Harvest Morningside Nursing Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeffrey A. Schleisman officiating. Burial will he in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. at Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.

Frances was born March 18, 1912 in Sioux City, the youngest of four daughters to George V. and Nellie R. (Benton) Kirby. She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from Cathedral High School. She also attended Briar Cliff College.

She was employed as a secretary/receptionist and later as a housekeeper for the Rev. John McGuire at Clare and Jefferson, Iowa. She returned to Sioux City after the Rev. McGuire's death in 1969.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Altar Society, Latin Exchange Club, Catholic Women's League, Carmelite Guild and a 39-year member of the Court Queen of Peace Catholic Daughters of America in Jefferson, Iowa.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include a sister. Loretta J. Neilsen of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Kirby and Mildred Lilly.

Pallbearers will be her grandnephews, Jim, Jerry, Larry and Gary Neilsen, Terry Ueding, Torn Stokes and Tim Martens.
