SIOUX CITY -- LuCielle "Lucy" Cormany, 82, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital from medical complications.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave., with Pastor Tess Panamarow of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com.

LuCielle Fraser was born Dec. 22, 1926, in White Lake, S.D., to Earl and Edna (Gadmer) Fraser. She attended and graduated from Cherokee (Iowa) High School with the class of 1944.

On June 24, 1949, Lucy and Charles R. Cormany were married in Sioux City. Lucy was one of a kind and a very caring person. While taking excellent care of her own family, Lucy and Charles took in foster children. The number of foster children over the years was unbelievably high, with 23 people in the family at one time. The couple taught their own children, along with foster children, some life lessons that would last a lifetime. She made a difference in many lives. After her own children grew into the teenage years, she stopped foster care. Lucy then went to work as a dispatcher for the Sioux City Police Department. She did this for 18 1/2 years, retiring in 1987.

Not being one to sit still after retirement, she had a good number of jobs that kept her busy and happy. Lucy loved meeting different people and keeping her mind active. Her last job was a demonstrator at various establishments in Sioux City. In her spare time she collected Barbie dolls and Beanie Babies. Lucy was also a "professional" rummage person, running around town finding the best deals possible.

Lucy is survived by a son, Greg and wife, Shirley Cormany of Sioux City; daughters, Jackie and husband, Barry Murtha of Liberty, Mo., and Patty and husband, Earl Myers of Le Mars, Iowa; grandchildren, Christina and husband, David Washington of Des Moines, Shelby Murtha of Liberty, Mo., Ricky Whitmore of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Brandon and wife, Jenny Myers of Sioux City; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Alex Myers of Sioux City; and her special dog, Ginger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles in 1989; and a brother, LaVerne Fraser.

The joy and happiness she gave to everyone will sincerely be missed by many. She was also blessed with good neighbors who helped her and watched her throughout the years, which her family very much appreciated. She was also blessed by her many friends. She will be missed.
