Glen C. Callaghan, 72, died at his residence Monday, December 9, 2002. Glen was born February 25, 1930 at his rural home near Oto, Iowa the son of Earl and Celia (Metcalf) Callaghan.

He attended country school Grant #9. He attended High School at Climbing Hill, Iowa. He entered the Marine Corp in 1951, serving one year with 1st Marine Division in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

He married Christina (Betty) Kertges, October 30, 1954 in Dakota City. NE. After he was released from the service, he returned to farming. He worked on road construction for 15 years with Lee and Johnson, and Mid West paving.

He worked three years with Aleasco Trailer House Mfg. and his last employer was Ballou Brick.

He moved from the farm to Mapleton in 1985. He spent 15 winters in Texas, lower Rio Grande Valley.

He and his wife Christina founded the Korean Conflict Marines Reunion in 1988. It's held every two years.

Survivors include wife, Christina: son, Steven and his wife, Rita; two Granddaughters, Jamie Dixon and Lisa Cusick; three Great- Grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan and Justin Dixon; three adopted sons, Richard Callaghan, Underwood, IA, Craig Rude, Hornick, IA. and Gin Tang, Portland, Texas; three adopted daughters, Carol Callaghan, Underwood, IA, Candi Smith, Canon City, Co, Lian Tang, Portland, Texas; Sister, Florence Edgington and her husband; Nieces, Nephew and Cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Orval, Ray and their spouses.

A Memorial Service and Visitation were 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 22nd at the residence.
