SIOUX CITY -- Martin Joseph Betz Jr., infant son of Angela La Mere and Martin J. Betz of Sioux City, was stillborn Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Indian Mission in Sioux City, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are with Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.

Martin Jr. is survived by his parents, Martin and Angela; two brothers, Max and Dalton; maternal grandfather, Fred (Anita) La Mere of Sioux City; maternal grandmother, Nadine Paul of Sioux City; paternal grandfather, Arthur Betz of Waco, Neb.; and paternal grandmother, Lois Betz of Houston, Texas.

To Our Beautiful Baby Boy, with love we planned for him. During the pregnancy our love has grown. Every time we got to hear his heartbeat and see his beautiful face on his sonogram, we knew we had created an angel. He filled our days with excitement, joy and happiness. We couldn't wait to see him. On the day of his birth we were ready. Ready to hold and kiss him and show him all our love. But, things didn't go as planned. He was taken from us so quickly. Why? We will never understand. Although our hearts are now filled with sadness, our love he will always have. Today we say goodbye, when it is something we just cannot do; So we will say, "We love you. Always and Forever."
