SIOUX CITY -- Adelaide H. McCline, 91, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at Touchstone Living Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee and Jay Denne officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Adelaide was born July 4, 1918, in Sioux City, the daughter of Chris and Pearl (Hofstad) Hansen. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. She graduated from East High School. She attended the University of South Dakota, then graduated from Morningside College. She was a secondary school teacher in Varina, Iowa, before her marriage.

She married Robert M. McCline on July 15, 1944, in Sioux City. He died July 22, 1999, in Sioux City. The couple owned and operated Chris Hansen Construction and McHan Construction for many years.

She was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church, where she had taught Sunday School. she had served as president and had been a board member of the Sioux City Figure Skating Club. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Order of the Eastern Star and the Stable Mates of the White Horse Mounted Patrol. She also was a member of the Coral Ridge Yacht Club in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, boating, watching her granddaughter perform in horse shows and gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Michael R. McCline and his wife, Lori and Curtis R. McCline and his wife, Marti, all of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Gabe Potash, Chris McCline and his wife, Cheri, Alicia, Marissa and Mitch McCline; and her great-grandchildren, Connor McCline, Cydney and Hannah Sulzbach.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister-in-law, Nell Higgins.

Pallbearers will be Scott Higgins, Mark McCline, Chris Hofstad, Greg Hanson, Nike Reider and Mark Wackerbarth.

A memorial has been established in Adelaide's name.
