Pauline Cecelia Scott, 82, Salix, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 30, 2002 while attending evening mass at St. Joseph Church.

Pauline was born January 15,1920 at Mapleton, Iowa, the fourth child of Frank and Katharine (Uhl) Waite. She graduated from Danbury Public School where she participated in music, drama and archery activities. She later attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa and then taught country school near Holly Springs, Iowa.

She married Walter Earl Scott of Climbing Hill, Iowa on February 24, 1943 at Danbury. She was a cook, secretary and head cook at Westwood Community School from 1969 to 1987. Walter died March 26, 2000 at Salix.

She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Tabernacle Society and the Legion of Mary of the church.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Frances Scott and Mary and her husband, Duane Herbst all of Salix; four sons, Michael of Maywood, NE, Paul and his wife, Cyndy, Dennis and Edwin and his wife Rachelle all of Salix; 13 grandchildren. Charles Rethman, Honore Carlson, Abby, Walker, Robert, Samantha, Kayla, Andres and Gregory Scott and Dr. David and his wife, Michelle, Nathan, Kamy and James Herbst; two sisters, Leone Morgan of Danbury, Viand Helen and her husband Burt Tweed of Shelton, Wa; two brothers and their wives, Claire and Vera Welte of Danbury and Louis and LaMona. Welte of Anthon; a sister-in-law Harriet Welte of Memphis, TN and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, James and Frances Waite; a sister, Catherine Dandurand and a sister-in-law Margaret Owens Welte. The funeral mass was 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Salix with Father Donald J. Slaven officiating. Special music was "Gather Us In", 'Morning Has Broken", "One Bread, One Body" and "Though The Mountains May Fall". Mary Holzerland was cantor/soloist and Jane Heisterkamp was organist. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Salix. Visitation was 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at the church with a Scripture service at 7:00 p.m.

Casket beaters were her grandsons: Robert, Andrew, Walker and Gregory Scott and James, David and Nathan Herbst. Honorary bearers were Martina Cain, Rita Brassfield, Dorothy Thorpe, Sharon Eicholt and LaVonne Brouillette.
