Harrison Roscoe Branch, 85, of Hacienda Heights, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died of cancer Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999.

Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif. with the Rev. Philip A. Demers officiating.

Mr. Branch was born June 1, 1913, in Garretson, S.D. He graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1930.

He married Donnabelle Peterson on Nov. 14, 1934, in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. He was employed with Standard Oil Co. of Indiana for 29 years. The couple moved to California, where he was employed with Central Safe and Vault and then with Rose Hills Memorial Park for 32 years; retiring in 1990.

He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Hacienda Heights, where he had painted "The Praying Hands" for the narthex. He enjoyed painting and gardening.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Alton Richards and Harriet and John Johnson; two grandchildren, Jon Christopher Johnson and DeAnne Leverence; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Jean Barthel of Elmhurst, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Hacienda Heights.
