Mark L. Steinhoff, 46, Hornick, Iowa died Wednesday, November 27, 2002 following a life long battle with muscular dystrophy.

Mark was born May 16, 1956 at Onawa, the son of Jack and Gloria (Steele) Steinhoff. He attended Westwood Community School and served briefly in the United States Army. He was married to Kimberly Thomas April 3, 1980 and later to Debra Schulz December 22, 2001 at Elk Point, SD.

He raised cattle and was formerly employed with A G Processing Inc.

He was a member of Hornick United-Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Debra; a son, Tanner Steinhoff of Sloan, Iowa; four daughters, Ashley and her husband Charlie Hagestrom, Whiting, Cori and Bobbi Jo both of Sloan and Samantha Steinhoff at home; his step-children, Jeff, Jeanette and Marie Ballinger of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, Braiden Hagestrom and Kayden Steinhoff; his parents, Jack and Gloria of Hornick; four brothers, John and his wife, Debra of Sioux City and Jim and his friend Cindy of Onawa, Clifford and his wife Janie of Hornick, and Gaylen and his wife Judy of Smithland; two sisters Marilyn and her husband Fred Teach of Blair, NE and Sandra Rogers of Hornick and many nieces and nephews.

He was, preceded in death by his grandparents, Herman and Cora Steinhoff and Walter and Cecile, Steele and a niece Sara Steinhoff.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2002 at Hornick United Methodist Church with Pastor Carolyn L. Bittner officiating. "The congregation sang, "Amazing Grace" and Clifford Steinhoff sang, "Precious Lord, Take My Hand". Patricia Madsen was organist. Burial was in German City Cemetery in rural Holly Springs, Iowa. Visitation was from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2002 with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Hornick United Methodist Church at Hornick.

Casket bearers were Mark's nephews, Brooks, Blake, Bret, Seth, and Joshua Steinhoff and Aaron Clark. Honorary bearers were David Wilder, Pat Wulf, Neal Lloyd, Larry Loyd, Mike Muller and Mark Persinger.

Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service at Onawa,
