Julia C. "Judy" Fowler, 79, of Florence, Ky., formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in Florence.

Private family graveside services will be Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, with military rites. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Fowler was born May 8, 1922, in Churchs Ferry, N.D., the daughter of Leonard and Lula (Barnes) Parsons. She served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

She married Virgil L. Fowler on July 21, 1945, in New Orleans, La. He died Jan. 21, 1998, in Sioux City. She had been a resident of Sioux City for most of her life. She moved to Florence in November 2001.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Dennis and Molly Fowler of Sioux City; a grandson, Robert Fowler of St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Bernice Fronk of Florence; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Parsons; and two sisters, Margaret Havink and Mamie Howell.
