Joseph David, Tripp, 54, of Salix, Iowa, died Thursday, March 26, 1998, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

He was born, April 4, 1943, in Sioux City, the son of Homer "Shorty" and Catherine (Moreau) Tripp. He attended school in Salix where he was a lifelong resident. On August 20, 1966, he married Sharon Biggerstaff Eliason at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. They have lived all their married life in Salix. He was employed as a truck driver for Sioux City Foundry for many years. He then worked for the City of Salix as a policeman until his death. He attended the police academy and was a law enforcement officer for about 30 years. He as a school bus driver for Westwood Com-munity School.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Salix Fire Department, and the Police officers Association.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon; three sons, Michael of Sioux City, David "Doc' and his wife, Jackie of Sioux City, and Robert "Rob" of Salix; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 30, 1998, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa, with Father Bruce Lawler, Mass Celebrant. The organist was Mrs. Greg Heisterkamp and the Cantor was Mary Holzerland.

A Vigil Service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 1998, at the church.

Bearers were Gary Hubert, Billie Shreve, Bill Shreve, Ron Copple, Pat Thompson and Tony Yanak.

Interment will be at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Salix. Arrangements were by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
