SIOUX CITY | DoLoris M. Eddington, 88, of Sioux City passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, at a local hospital.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nea Huggins officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences can be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

DoLoris, the daughter of George A. and Emma Smith, was born on Feb. 22, 1925, in Le Mars, Iowa. She received her education at Le Mars schools.

DeLoris married Gordon Eddington at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux City. DoLoris was a homemaker.

DoLoris started every morning with a crossword puzzle. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She enjoyed reading and was a member of the Sioux City Writer’s Club for many years. She was also a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was active in circles and preparing funeral luncheons.

DoLoris is survived by four daughters, Karen Sue Painter of Sioux City, Carole Jean (Duane) Whitead of Sioux City, Saundra Rae (Randy) Davidson of Sioux City, and Jacalyn Joy (Timothy) Vaughan of Omaha; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; and brother, Wilbur Cook and his wife, Dorothy.
